Boat Handling Knowledge & Skills
Learn on your boat with an experienced skipper

While operating as a skippered narrowboat and narrowboat experience provider, I received enquiries to provide a day of assistance to novice boaters who had just taken delivery of their narrowboat.  They wanted some help to learn the basics and gain knowledge and experience of how to operate their boat on the canals and rivers.  They found it a very useful day and clearly gained a lot more confidence by the end of our session together.

"boat instruction and training with a different approach"

Button Boating is now offering this as a service in the midlands (UK) area and will travel to meet you at your boat for a structured day of informal knowledge and experience sharing, demonstrating, helping and supporting you in whatever areas of boating you need.

I also have a structured  'training' schedule of invaluable information available, which we previously used for our Hands-On Days with our narrow boat Button - this schedule can now be adapted to suit your situation and your boat, so let us know your particular needs.

You will be in charge of your boat, but with your permission, I can demonstrate applicable skills and techniques, which you can then learn directly and help build your knowledge and confidence.

The aim is not to provide a certificate or qualification, but to share years of experience and advice, in a relaxed, informal environment, to help you be confidently prepared to handle your own narrowboat or cruiser.

Experience range covers vessels from small cruisers, to larger cruisers, small, medium and full length narrowboats, including historic craft, on non-tidal inland waterways (CAT A and B).

Enquiries can now be made for further information via our Contact Us Form at the foot of each page of this website.

Please note that if you require a certificated RYA training course / helmsman certificate, then we will refer you to a recommended provider, we are not an RYA training provider.
